It’s only fitting that my first blog post reflects on one of my favorite bourbon pours- Booker’s Bourbon. There’s something undeniability timeless about it: the rugged elegance of the bottle, the rustic charm of its wooden box and its strength of its proof.
One of the main things that fascinates me about bourbon, are the stories behind the pour- tales of master blenders chasing dreams, family legacies rooted deep in tradition, and generations passing down their craft. At the heart of it all is one common thread: a profound love for bourbon.
Legend has it, Booker Noe, the grandson of Jim Beam himself, crafted a private, unfiltered barrel-proof bourbon to share with friends and family. What began as a personal passion project became public release in 1988.
As the story goes, on his deathbed, Booker Noe left behind one final request: “Don’t F* with my Bourbon.”
Whether those were truly his last words or not, the sentiment still lives on. What is certain is the love, pride, and craftsmanship poured into every bottle- a passion you can taste with every sip.
Tasting Notes:
- Type: Uncut, unfiltered- no water added
- Proof: 125.5
- Flavor Profile: Oak, vanilla, baking spice, caramel, cherry notes
- Aged: 6 years
Released three to four times a year, each Booker’s Bourbon features a unique batch name and story—often inspired by something personal to the Beam family. This gives every release its own distinctive tasting experience. So far, 2023 has been my favorite year among batches from 2022 to 2025, with richer caramel notes that really stand out. I recently tried a 2025 batch at a friend’s house and found it noticeably bolder and spicier, leaning into strong baking spice notes with less of the vanilla and caramel, cherry warmth that made 2023 so memorable.
