As you can probably tell from my recent posts, I’m deep into a peach summer kick. And I’m not mad about it.
Yesterday, I stumbled upon something special at my local liquor store that wrapped up a warm Southern evening just right. Sipping it on the porch took me straight back to my roots—sweet tea in hand, letting your thoughts wander, country music playing low in the background, and a peaceful view of the pond.
The Penelope Peach Old Fashioned was the perfect match for the moment. It carried a subtle sweetness—but not too much, which is key for me. One of my biggest pet peeves is an Old Fashioned overwhelmed by simple syrup. You should be able to taste the bourbon—its depth, its character. The bitters and, in this case, the peach, should complement and elevate those notes, not mask them. A fresh peach slice to finish the look made it feel as elegant as it was easy to sip.
Don’t let the “premix” label fool you—Penelope Peach Old Fashioned is far from your average ready-to-drink cocktail. It holds its own. I’d confidently place this in the custom mixology category. It’s refined, intentional, and crafted with the kind of balance you’d expect from a $20 cocktail at a high-end bar. At a price point of $25 (and worth every penny), this bottle isn’t something to pass up—it’s a porch-sipping, Southern-summer cocktail providing you up to 12 servings.
